Permablitz Monday June 14 at Alexandria Park Community Garden - all welcome

Hello Blitzers,

It’s on! A dirt-shovelling, seedling planting, worm-tickling, pea-straw
strewing, yum food-eating, dirt-under-the-finger-nail, wheel-barrowing
permablitzing juggernaut is headed toward the Alexandria Park Community Garden!
You, your Mum, kids, grannie, neighbours (and basically everyone you know) is
warmly invited to come along and check it out.

Regardless of whether you are a seasoned Blitzer, Permie-geek or have never
even heard of a Permablitz, here’s your chance to come along and suss what it
all about – we’re especially keen to meet people interested in hosting a
blitz in their own backyard.

What happens?
Rock-up anytime between 10-3,  there will be a list of jobs to do. Anything
from setting-up compost and worm farms, laying garden beds, building living
fences, vertical gardens and even a small fruit tree orchard.

Nick Ritar from Milkwood Permaculture will be putting on some free workshops
for those keen to hone their skills and there will be plenty of designers to
provide tips and hints.

Some lunch will be provided but bring along a little something to share.
Time:  Things will kick off at around 10am and continue till around 3pm.

Date: Monday June 14 (It’s a public holiday)

Where: Alexandria Park Community Garden, the map is here.. It’s a quick walk
from Redfern station or grab the 370 or 355 buses to McEvoy St. There is plenty
of bike and car parking.

Bring: Gloves and good shoes, sunscreen, gloves, any paper, seedlings, shrubs
(edible), tyres, or recyclable timber, compost, cardboard, worm juice, some
food to share. – y’know all the trappings of a wonderful blitz.

What is Permablitz?
Permablitz is for you if:

- You want to learn some practical organic gardening skills
- You would like to learn some permaculture priciples
- You would like to grow your own food
- You would like to do something positive in relation to global warming, peak
oil and food security
- You would like to create a suburban edible forest
- You are interested public space food forests and guerilla gardening
- You would like to get to know your 'neighbours'

Sydney permablitzes currently are being organised by members of Friends of the
Earth- Sydney

GOALS

1. Raise awareness of Permaculture and Permablitzing in interested/relevant
communities, community organizations, local government and the media in Sydney.
2. Raise awareness of peak oil and climate change amongst above groups, and of
the ability of permaculture to provide a viable and effective means of positive
action on an urban/suburban level.
3. Establish a self-sustaining, non hierarchical and open permablitzing
movement in Sydney.
4. Run a successful blitz on housese in sydney
5. including hopefully an informal workshop on no dig gardening and potentially
other topics if requested.
